Looks pretty attractive in photos with what appears to be after-market A/C. Although, as a euro car, you never know what lies beneath. Maybe worth a look if you're in LA area.

Yeah, even with recent BAT sales as a gauge, this seems like a low price for what appears to be a complete car with very decent paint. Unless the "seller" is not the actual seller, it appears that they have a physical address as a business etc. Maybe someone intrepid will find a good deal? Dunno, but could happen. Again, not my thing, - just a tip for someone local with nothing better to do.

2.5 history may not mean too much depending on the current condition and composition of drive train. That A/C though, looks like you'd have to get out of the car to turn it on or off.
 
Says "Vehicle is a survivor car", doubt it. Oddly seller has 3658 sales with 100% positive. Unless his user was hijacked there is a little hope that this isn't a scam. Worth a look if someone is nearby.

I noticed the partially damaged Federalization sticker on the door panel - this reminds me of the federalization sticker my Euro '85 M635 had (done by Frank Fahey in San Diego). Certainly this appears to be a "grey market" vehicle.

Question for the experts: does this car require smog testing? I see a 12-75 date. I'm always a bit unsure of the actual cutoff date.

What would you call this motor? M30B25 ?
 
I think HB Chris could tally up all the differences in a 2.5 coupe best.


We worked are way through one this year- ended up changing engine, brakes, interior and on and on. It was a very big bill.

1975 and older are exempt, while 1976 and newer models must be smogged every two years
 
Ok, given that it was a 2.5 when it left the factory, the real question is what engine is in there now? If someone has opted to put in a 3.0 that's better, but still not what it really is. If it still has the 2.5 then it's not at all what it's being advertised as. Anyone can put a 3.0 badge on the trunk. I wonder what is on the title. The pic of the vin plate says 3.0cs but that could be an aftermarket plate.

All said, it's still a nice car, but given what it really is, 2.5's don't go for nearly as much as a 3.0 for obvious reasons. It is what it is and should be advertised as such. Caveat Emptor...
 
One of the forum members here has an actual 2.5 CS and he would be able to show us a picture of the correct VIN
