Does anyone out there know the value of a
Really nice, original set of metric BBS, non staggered
Wheels? Approx. 440 mm from "lip to lip"

i know that the 5 series e28 used a 390mm wheel - which is around 15.2" ... the question would be what is the difference between the center section of a 3 piece wheel. my guess is that the center section would be the same ... and the outer flanges would be different.

wonder if you could make the 390mm wheel into a set of 15" wheels ... we are talking about less than .1" per side.

One piece TRX wheels are worth their weight in aluminum. You can hardly give them away. TRX tires are $500 each. However, RS centers can fetch $700 to $1,000. The center caps can pull in a few hundred. I would hang onto them however and see if a preservationist wants them for his/her e24. If the centers are in fact a standard size, you can buy new BBS or aftermarket lips and centers.

You can give these guys a call for some options. You can turn the RS's into 16's or even 17's if you wish, or get some extra width for the rear.

Also, www.stanceworks.com has tons of info on building custom wheels. You can love or hate the style, but their members build and refinish some amazing vintage wheels.

Someone in Seattle was selling a set of New TRX tires for around $1,500 recently. It might be this guy. They are 390's and only two left.

Two new 390mm TRX - $800

You can gauge interest in your existing set on: www.bigcoupe.com

Original size for the BBS RS TRX 3-piece rims is 210x415mm. They were fitted for the early Euro only M635CSi coupes only. These were later swapped out for the slightly narrower 195x415mm 1 piece wheels by BMW. Tire size is 240/45/415. There is not much demand for either of these wheels in the E24 crowd.

Here are some pics of the mentioned wheels

The last picture is the only "scar" on any of the wheels. A very easy fix. All wheels are the same size. A friend of mine had them in scrap pile and I mentioned that they may have some worth. I told him that I would inquire.

Thanks Again For Any Input,

Pat Smith

to replace the barrels and faces it will cost you about 350 for replacement pieces (per wheel), plus all of the bolts.

Bbs

So, perhaps about $800 for all four wheels and center caps would be appropriate?

I'll let him know,

Thanks Guys,

Pat

Pat,

I would let him know that They will sell faster if he breaks them down. Nobody is going to buy them in metric form. I checked on big coupe and that is the consensus. Also, they had a recall early on due to air leakage, which is why they went to one piece.

the centers that sold on stancework's site were refinished and sold for 700 bucks. i think the centers with the caps in current condition (with the barrels removed) are only worth at most 500 to 600.

i completely agree that the metric barrels are aluminum recycle material
