Hi there!
Your best bet is to email BMW archive department, also known as BMW Mobile Tradition

they can be contacted at the following address:
[email protected]
Give them the following:
Model
Engine number
chassis or VIN number

Depending on how much info they have they should be able to tell you the following:
Date of manufacture
Who it was delivered to (Usually the official BMW importer for your country)
The original colour
The original interior colour
any special order equipment.

Please be aware they get shed loads of requests so do not expect an instant answer

Since there were only 442 2000C's made, and the production breakdown is 2 in 1965, 212 in 1967 and 229 in 1968, I'd say your car is a 1967.

how rare are these cars and how many of these things are left in the us and the world. Where can i get an orig tranny for the car vin #1000039 1967 2000c

Tranny

Well, as for rare, more than the 6ers, and not many in really nice shape from my experience. Check out the photo gallery above for some pics, and the links below.

The transmission is the same as that found on the 2002, so your in luck there. If you want to go cheap, find a used one, there's plenty around. I assume it's a manual, if so, your probably finding that the second gear synchro is going or shot.

Allow me to quote myself -- "Since there were only 442 2000C's made..."

That's 442 built ever. GM turns out that many pickup trucks in an hour on a slow day. In general terms, the only cars rarer than 120's and e9's are hand built exotics Like Ferraris and Lambos.

The drivetrain in your 120 is pretty much the same as any early 2002 -- the ubiquitous M10 engine, and a long-neck diff. Slushboxes on the early cars are ZF's with a non-standard selector order. Any 4- or 5-speed that will fit an M10 engine is an option for a swap into a 120.

The bigger challenge might be finding the manual-trans pedal set.

Here's a good site to see what's involved in an auto to manual transmission swap. The 2002's share many driveline parts with the 2000 C's

Also check out the 2002FAQ site for information.

Carl Nelson is a good authority to go to for parts

As for dual carbs, most folks put on Webber DCOE's, and you can find them for sale used and I think new. check on the 2002 fAQ parts for sale site. As you'll find the 2000 c and the 2002 share many parts.

best,

2000 c

Thanks mark found a tranny at bullet motor sports and just my luck they had a pedal assembley for me to for a small sum of money. Do u think the insulation on the floorboards is making them rust. That stuff is coming out and it weighs alot too thanks gonz

2000 c

Norm do u know how many of the 443 2000c are left in the us and europe. How many did max hoffan bring into the us and how many were us versions Mine is a us version vin 1000039 Thanks norm.

I have a 67 2000cs,vin#1104518. My car was produced on the 9th of November in 1966. Happy 40th Birthday. Max Hoffman did not sell the car untill late 1967, so it was titled as a 1968. 40 years ago importers could do as they wished. After haggling with the Registry in Massachusetts
they agreed to title the car as a 1967. Sun is out today so the coupe is being driven today.

I have number 256. Do you have the solid red brake lights too? What color is yours?

If you click on the link above, it takes you to the auction, which apparently closed with no bids. Maybe you should contact the seller to see if it is still available??
