2000CS Identity Crisis?

I presume that this is a front end swap. The front fenders look like a 2000cs still (more e3 like near the blinker). Four lug wheels and early interior. Interesting car.

Like it or not, and I do, why change the part of a 2000CS that makes it unique. Over the course of many years I have grown a bit fond of the 2000CS nose.

I own a 3.0CSi and prefer the later nose. But I do appreciate the 2000's.

It looks to be well executed from the few low res pics. I like the wood rail also. I wonder why they dropped them on US cars but kept them in the UK. Does the 2000CS rail fit?
