The ill-fated Alpina CSL of Brian Muir and Hans-Peter Joisten.
The race began in temporary sunshine, but the rain resumed by late afternoon.
Joisten was leading when he spun at Malmedy and was hit by an Alfa 2000 GTV, killing both Joisten and the Alfa driver, Roger Dubos.
The 24 hour race was won by the CSL of Toine Hezemans and Dieter Quester.
