From what I read here this is NLA and all you need to add a speedometer drive cable to a 265....

I have the bolt that holds it in also.

$100 delivered cont us, $150 worldwide.

Please email me at [email protected]

Thanks

Strictly speaking yes. For it to work though, one also has to assume the speedometer drive gear is in one's gearbox ;). I've come across several 265/5 and 265/6 gearboxes without the gear (without speedo drive). Otherwise, yes, these drives are becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of. I have only one new one left, i'm keeping hold of it!

Right. You need both the one for sale, as well as the worm gear to drive it.

I had a 265 e-speedo and bought that worm gear, part 15, while it's still available.

Is this the gear you mentioned? The link didn’t work for me.

Is this the same drive as for the original type 4 speed? The 4 speed part number is 2321 120 0416 for the drive and 2321 120 2751 for the adaptor. My site doesn't show a "kit" number for the entire assembly like the 5 speed number 2321 120 7772.

I have a 4 speed box I'd like to sell though it lacks the drive. The internal drive is in place..

Hmm....I think I need to test fit it in a 265 I have....to be sure. This one came out of a 4 spd. Also I should not rely on tech information from the net and people selling parts as they tend to say everything fits everything and works fine..

So interestingly realoem shows the 265 drive as being in the e21 also...wonder if that is just the euro 323 with 5 spd...the 4 spd shows the individual parts, and seems the 5 spd part is still available for $130 or so...

Again, different info than was posted here a while back, guess they reintroduced?

Thanks Chris, so the gear is the same but the plug part is different diameter...I imagine. Dang, I probably have 20 plus of the gears then, bet my first responder bought one from a 240 series trans...will double check but betting the 262 is the same as the 265...

Should have pulled out some of those gears when they were selling here for $200+...

Thanks

Al

Yup, 4 spd is same...my first responder got one from a 240 series trans. If he comes thru with PayPal I think all mine are sold.

I do have some of the mainshaft gears and shims that you may or may not need...?

Thanks

Al

I made a swap from 262 4-speed to 265/6 5-speed overdrive & all fitted well. Removing the #8 was little bit tricky.

I can also confirm that pilfering those parts from the 4-Speed worked in my junk yard 265. Getting #8 out of the old transmission is tricky! It's pressed on the output shaft. The only way I could figure out to do it was to make a sort of puller tool that threaded into the teeth of that gear. I've always wondered if more experienced mechanics have a technique for pulling it out using heat (or dark magic)?
