Wipers stopped working the other day. Fuses OK.
If I supply power to the motor, the wipers work so it's not the motor.
I'm no electrician-- what is the next likely suspect? Relay? Switch in the steering column stalk?
Are these parts available anywhere?

Thanks for any advice!

The wiper relay "Wishwash" is above the hood release lever. The turn signal, wiper on-off & washer fluid reservoir motor stalk is likely OK.
Pushing turns the wipers on & is half speed/for mist or light rain. The center console left knob is wiper speed, first detent is Normal Speed, second detent is Fast Speed, this when the entire wiper arms may be lost. The spring clip, detent on the arm may weaken over time.

Keep in mind The relay mentioned above is a bit more complicated than a basic relay. There's a circuit board in the housing and they are prone to fail. It's the first place I'd look after checking for loose wires and connectors

I have a strange problem! When I engage the wipers with washing they do their thing and stop after 3-4 wipes. When I engage normal solo wiping they are not moving in any speed setting - they are just dead... Did anyone have a similar problem?

You have

a) a wipe/wash function that is steered by the respective relay - there the wipers should go for 3-4 time sand then stop. that is the expected behavior

b) a wiper function that can have interval or permanent at two different speeds

What year is your E9? wiring, stalks and switches are different for early vs late.

might be that your wiper stalk works with the wipe/wash but not for the regular wipe - to be chased down on the respective wiring from stalk to wiper motor.

see wiring diagram here:

be aware - there are slight differences between early and late models.

see the two different versions of the wiper stalk (early vs late):
