I've added this pic to show the differences in the holes for mounting.

This is a pic of the 2800 grille. The paper 'markers' show where the holes are on my 3.0cs.

Any comments?

what i can tell you after going out and looking at my 71 2800cs grille is - its just like your white marks ... NOT like the grille. is the e3 / bavaria grille different than the coupe?

2800CS and 3.0CS have used the same part numbers since early 70s, no difference, and Penske shows e3 uses exact same grille as well. And my mounting holes are the same as the white marks too.

Everything else line up with respect to headlight openings and lower mounting holes. Its just the upper ones that are different. Wierd....?

2000cs grilles?

Same comment, but substitute "1974 model year grilles?".

From my experience, 2800 and 3.0 e9 grilles interchange, and ditto for e9 and e3. But a lot of things changed with the '74 models - might that account for the different location of the upper holes? I'm just speculating - have no direct experience with a '74.

RealOEM shows same part number for a 74 as well, you can tell by the unique model numbers in four digits, auto 7023 and manual 7013 for a 74.
