i just got new rotars, pads, and front wheel bearings from mesa performance. they have calipers as well. its a good idea to replace your frnt wheel bearings while you are doing brakes - easy and cheap.
dq,
each frnt wheel has an inner and an outer bearing - each bearing consists of a race and the bearing. the bearing comes right out, the race has to be pounded out of the wheel hub using a stout screwdriver. carefully press/pound the new chase back in place using a suitably sized washer, or if your fancy, buy a set of race drivers at harbor freight for $28.00 (i finally broke down and made this purchase last time, worked great!). then pack the bearings with grease, put it all back together, and you are done. the inside bearing is held in place by a rubber retaining ring. so for parts you need 4 bearings and 2 rubbers retaining rings - the whole shootin-match was less than $30 from mesa.
im sure the blue books explain this much better than i just did, so chk there before you dive in. even if your bearings were just marginally bad, you will notice a big difference.
hope that helps,

E9 front discs 272 X 19 E24 630/633/635i front discs 280 X 19.
Assuming all else being equal between the two types of discs apart from the diameters, is there any reason why a pair of E24 discs couldn't be machined to reduce the diameter by 8mm in order to fit our E9s?
Guys,
all ventilated front E3 and E9 rotors are 272x22 and available for about €50 each from BMW, W&N etc. so there are no reason for adapting or machining the ones from E12 or E24.
The E3/E9 ventilated rears are 272X19 - cost about the same.
No reason? How about 'because I can'? When it's Saturday night in the old garage and you want to put those 280x22's you got for $6 each on the front of your Bav, you do what you need to do.
