3.0CS from the 1974 LA Auto Expo?

I own a 1974 BMW 3.0CS, see picture. The story of this car is that it was imported by Max Hoffman and was ordered as his personal car (silver/red). The story continues that this car was displayed at the '74 or '75 LA Auto Expo and eventually sold to the BMW/Mercedes dealership in Palm Springs, CA. Does anyone have info related to the '74 LA Auto Expo cars and/or photos from the expo? Is there any way to prove whether this car was actually Max's car?

Below is the car today. I've talked to every owner. The exterior and interior are 100% original. Approx 150k miles.

The LA times advertising supplement for the LA Auto Expo announced the 3.0CS will be shown at the expo and the original owner saw a silver/red 3.0 was on the podium for BMW.

Looks like the 74 show was in May of 1974, it would be nice to get the build date of your coupe to see when it was built. Send an e-mail to:

Lovely car. I'd be a bit torn whether to swap out those bumpers given the history of the car
