check the overall width - from where the filler pipe is to the center of the car (the shorter dimension). the 74 is shorter than the earlier tanks due to the bumper brace in the trunk. the early trunks are approx. 20" wide (without the flanges)

74 tanks are easy to spot. They have a return line spigot (the correct term escapes me) on top of the tank added for emissions to recapture fuel vapors I believe. This may be on US spec 74’s only. It came in handy on my 74 coupe when I installed L-Jet injection I did not have to run a new return line.
