I just saw a 1971 3.0csl sell at Mecum for $185.00. It had triple Webers so it wasn't stock, very encouraging.
 
The fact that it made it to $185k is still amazing IMO... very surprised the reserve wasn't met at that level considering the engine, ect.

There are so few data points on the early ones it's hard to know where they're at.

well, the quarter million dollar car in yurrop must have set the sellers sights too high.
Seller literally didn't know what he had, got some reasonable feedback,
and still sets value very high.
"the market" (i.e. Monterey crowd bidders) clearly doesn't know what the car is
(or more accurately, what it isn't)...and also thinks the car is worth more than it is.

Lotta soap in this bubble..."but the tailight lenses are worth two grand!" :-\
