On this day: 19th September, back in 1976, the Silverstone Circuit hosted the Access RAC Tourist Trophy. This was the 8th round of the European Touring Car Championship.

The race for Group 2 cars and was won by Luigi Team’s Hughes de Fierlant (B) / Jean Xhenceval (B) / Pierre Dieudonné (B) in their BMW 3.0 CSL #001.

Not sure exactly why but this Luigi car has always been one of the best looking race CSLs on the circuits. A great mix of aggressiveness and cohesiveness even with all the batmobile stuff on it.
