I have heaps of questions on this conversion, sorry if some are very dumb.
I have what I think is a 5 speed dog leg but cant select reverse on the bench. How do I do that? I have managed to get 4 forward gears only by joining the linkage selector fork onto the selector lever.

Do the attached parts which came from a 528, I am told, look correct for my 4 speed manual to 5 speed project?
I have 2 linkage bars, one is approx 24cm between pivots, the other 15cm.
The aluminium extension is 30cm between pivots and 41cm overall.
The tin cover is 25cm long.
Are these correct or do I need to go shopping?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks Shanon.
The double shear makes sense. I guess 147mm long?
Do you have any knowledge on the other parts like:
Does the tin cover look correct?
Is that alunimium extension correct?
Can I get away with my current 4 speed gear lever or do I need to find a cranked 5 speed one?
Thanks so much for the help so far. I hoped this was so common that I would get heaps of advice.
Regards Charles

Hi Charles,

I have the DSSR set-up mated to my dog-leg 5speed. I don't recall 'needing' to swap the gear lever itself, maybe it did?! ( dont recall) the 5spd tranny conversion came with the car at many moons ago. The guys at UUC were very helpful. You can also search 'UUC DSSR' on this board. It's been around for a while.

One mod that I did do was make a slightly wider shift boot opening to accommodate the slightly wider shift pattern of the lever to reach reverse. Maybe a different lever would do the trick. It rubbed the switch panel edge and made getting into reverse slightly annoying. I also eliminated all the switch work on the shifter housing converting to manual/roll-up windows so the extra width didn't matter to my build.

HTH

BTW- How's my family's castle? Noticed your location ;)
