I was at Logan's shop today (The Studio) and they have a Getrag 265 that was originally from a 1985 535 I think, it is installed in a 5 series car and the owner decided to go now with a Close Ratio. This transmission is therefore available at reasonable market price. It was driven up to very high speeds after installing so it is known that it is tight, it does not have the NLA bearing noise, and it leaks a bit.
Has the port for the mechanical speedo but it is plugged (no gear installed).
I can pass any interest along, probably by providing their phone number.
