I know that my future is not just a dream… or so it says on the wheels…

Interesting that this car sold for $64k exactly 2 years ago. I somehow doubt it will get the same this time?

There were some questions about the prior restoration job - people noted that there were no pics of the rockers before paint - and I maybe see some rust bubbles coming through the 2 or 3 year-old paint? Also, the current seller’s receipts note “non-automotive-grade wiring twisted together” which could-should have been addressed (certainly not installed) during the repaint.

Normally I would say that things can be changed back to the buyer’s taste but there are so many things I would want to change on this car. Personally I wouldn’t bid more than $10 or 15k, but I’m curious how high it goes.

Here is the prior 2023 auction:

After reading through the invoices and quotes from the Post-Purchase service, it seems like this car was quite the hoopty. Respray, wheels and interior refresh instead of mechanical resto.

We could have seen this one coming quite a while ago when Candia did his ‘restoration.’ The seller is brave and honest to share receipts where mechanic says: can’t set timing, lamp cord was used for some of the wiring, new fuel tank needed, trans had almost no fluid and contained metal debris, voltage regulator was bypassed, fifth gear difficult to engage, “probably not safe.” I really feel bad for the seller.

Oh ok looks like the restorer has been active on here? It’s interesting to look at his comments from the prior auction. Candia was upset with people asking about rust, and repeatedly said “I didn’t spend 15k on a paint job to hide rust” but here we are 3 or 4 years later and there is bubbling paint on the drivers door and the passenger quarter panel. Not to mention all the other problematic mechanical and electrical things that were done (or not done) in the process.

Also, it looks like Candia has flipped cars before - that Malaga car was sold on BAT for $28k in 2020, and Candia restored it and sold it for $83.5k in 2023…

"lamp cord was used for some of the wiring" - that is definitely a first for me to see on a repair order...LOL...WTH?

Aaaand the car’s already up to 30k! Apparently buyers are looking at those receipts and thinking “ok he got everything sorted out” rather than “wow this was a sloppy restoration.”

Or maybe they aren’t looking at the receipts at all.

uhm .... this tells me enough...
if you repaint a car, and then reinstall the front indicator with this rubber. And stand back and think: well done!

I guess they didn't read the FAQ on how to lift your coupe....
The sill bottom was open to let water out. Now it is pinched closed where it is pushed up by the lift pad.
also, it'll break the paint layers, thus corrosion starts the next day...

I hurt inside...
