I saw this on Classic Autotrader. No shots of the engine, and the ad says "Engine: NA" - perhaps this is just a roller?

Autotrader has a shot of the VIN (#2270603) - thought maybe you guys can run it through the database and see what pops up.
Vehicle is listed in Van Nuys, CA, but the auction house is in Coconut Creek, FL. This looks like another salvage sale?

No shots of the engine
Looks like they must have added one...

There's something familiar about this car. There was a member on here years ago that had three coupes he was restoring/modifying at the same time. Given the newer flavor of engine in this car, it reminds me of that collection.

the ancestry project lists this car as a 'parts car' owned by Joe Buckley in Gulfport, FL in 2011. parts of the car were used for 2240189. the original color of the car was polaris. so something is very fishy to me.

i think the person who was doing that Stephen was in the south Atlanta area, but i never met the guy or knew what happened to those cars.

I thought the 227 serial numbers are USA cars like mine but this car has a KM speedo. And the ID plate is one I haven't seen before.

they need to show the VIN on the firewall, not the remade one on the top of the inner fender. i do not believe this is 2270603 perhaps its 2210603. the auction also says its a 1972 2800cs. there is no such thing ... the last 2800cs was march 1971.

i just noticed that the car has 3.0cs gauges as the numbers are white and the redline is higher than the 2800cs. the seat style is a 74 horizontal pattern. this looks like a cobbled together car of various pieces. perhaps somebody did buy the 'parts car', quick repaint and threw a lot of various coupe parts on it. seeing the VIN on the firewall is something that needs to be seen.

I went to see it

The chassis and rust areas are clean and coated Rockers were good Behind glove box , fuse area and strut towers were all clean

The only issue is a retagged VIN plate and
The VIN at the firewall looks hammered out and not legible

The title is clean and on no op But labeled as a 72 2800 and not 71 instead

that's not a ringing endorsement - the firewall VIN hammered out and not legible? sounds like a stolen or put together car. as i mentioned above 2270603 was a parts car in Gulfport, FL, originally polaris, and most of the parts from it were put into 2240189 in 2011 i believe. so here's my question, did you see any trace of polaris? we know Inka was not a 2800cs color and we also don't have any inka 2800cs in the registry or coupe ancestry project. this car needs to have somebody really look into the firewall VIN and try to determine what it used to be. sounds like to me that somebody bought a VIN plate + title ...

I agree. I was not endorsing it

The firewall VIN was hammered and someone stamped a plus and two 2s but upside down compared to the way numbers are normally stamped
I’m new to the E9 so I just know what was and wasnt
I do believe it’s a car with another VIN and possibly three cars made into one which is totally legal if you show all documents

The engine fires up nicely but they said the brakes and clutch need work so it can’t be driven I just did not want to say stolen but definitely the firewall VIN has been hammered and the VIN at the driver door is also not legible
