Sold on on BaT last June for $78k, now looking for $16k more...

I drove it when Coupe King had it a few years ago, perhaps 2014, the ask was $45k then...

So this is a run of the mill US ‘73 in a very common color which started life as auto and was converted to 5 speed, possibly original (meaning tired) engine with Webers (?).

Am I missing something? What makes this a $94k car???

Always a SoCal coupe, low miles, documented history, five speed, new leather seats, owned twice by Mike Pelly, prepped for sale last year by Mike and Paul Cain, lots to like in this one. We will see if it sells or not. The seller had a 74 a couple months ago that sold within a day or two, told a prospective buyer he knew of this one but also claimed it wasn’t on BaT, which it was. That buyer paid $80K, BaT covered the $1,500 shortfall to Mike’s reserve of $80K.

This car was at the HB Car Show last year, 2019, and presented very well. Mike is a local OC guy and knows coupes and 2002s very well. His attention to detail on cars is unprecedented. If you search on BAT, his 2002tii was one of the highest priced 2002s EVER sold (non-turbo). His current Colorado 2002tii looks better than some cars straight off the showroom floor. I drool whenever I see his engine bay on that car, it is impeccable. He is also an exceptional guy and has been a real resource for some of us newer e9 and 2002 guys in OC. With that being said, I am hoping the current owner built upon Mike's build and made the car better to justify a 20% bump up on price.

Yes. Mike Pelly provenance is a good thing. I also looked at the BAT auction which has way more info than what this Copley site offers. This added info helps understand... at least up to maybe $80k.
