Isnt there a cardboard liner under the headliner
in the rear part of the underside of roof
that forms the rear headliner
i cant remember if i took it out
ok

headliner

No- there is a shaped 4mm plywood former to which the rear edge of the headliner is glued for a width of about 2" and then the former is fixed with 4x self- tappers to the rear roof frame. The headliner wraps around the rear edge of the former. The former itself runs the full width of the roof at the rear and is about 7" wide. It is fairly easy to guess the shape of the curves - one at each end .I managed to get the shape by means of introducing a notched plywood backing and then glueing this backing to the former in a shaped mould in the vice. I made the mould out of blockboard sheets. Once set ,it retains the curves. The mould can be used again for the other end of the former, once set. I assume that you have the four headlining irons which run through the pleats in the headlining? Am I making sense? Best wishes, John
