74 CS in San Diego Priced right!

Well it's needing re-assembly and an interior swap and the DMV documents reflect 3 years of past registration due that the seller insisted was not to be the case so if he wants to be paid for it, he needs to take that dreaded trip to the Motor Vehicle Department, that is when they are open which IIRC is three days a week now?

San Diego: As I have often been heard to muse...Malaga is Malaga but even this guy could not speel that korrectly if you notice..! She's a princess, delicate and slow to be talked into the sack, as it were.

I may have bitten off more than I can chew but Bob bless his heart is to assist for a few weeks gettting it together...once we move it next week!

lol!

PS it's a CSi sunroof coupe with A/C (schwarz) amazingly enough w/rust remedied and new paint.

If this car is to be registered here in California and as long as its not on non op status expect to pay for all the back fees.

Thats great news that you finally got your own coupe Ran. I am happy for you. Take good care of it and enjoy it in good health. Start a new thread and pls post some pics. Also do Stan a favor and make sure to register it.

...do Stan a favor and make sure to register it.
Not unlike CA state DMV fees I refuse to pay until they get their act together.., I am afraid Stan is going to have to come over for a beer and quietly sleuth my Chassis number while my attention is elsewhere...we all make it FAR too easy for him and I think he needs to be a bit more pro-active about collecting his data for the Registry...don't you all?

Farm.jpg

I have a little farm in Oregon which qualifies me to run Oregon plates and even (reasonably enough) switch my plates between whichever vehicle needs one at the time! (don't fret, we also pay very high property taxes)

I like to support Oregon in general as it's conceived a brilliant 2 punch solution for high taxes and the high rate of correctional recidivism given the amount of drug use by the young folks in Portland, etc...And so I also vote there. Oregon has no sales tax whatsoever and (also just like New Jersey) its illegal to pump your own gasoline, in hope of keeping jobs for high school kids setting them straight (like I did when I worked for AAA) during and after high school.

Plus there's still lots of trees, winding 'trails' and deep green space to enjoy with many miles of coastline to investigate...

Stan, do you still have my address?

Ran, If it's a CSi, does it still have the D-Jetronic injection or has it been updated? If it's a D-Jet, how did he overcome the idle dip with the A/C unit?

Sounds like a nice car. Pictures?

I will go this far and indicate it's a 226 car...and I will endeavor to take some photos for you all on Saturday when I return to the car...Unfortunatley the AC is aftermarket and as such, I intend to remove it for now and replace it with the standard BMW set-up at a later time Bwana as I have direct experience in such matters... it will be weeks before I get to drive it without goggles!

Cheers!

Getting back to the San Diego Malaga car...

I spoke to the owner about it at length.

He has only owned it a year and sunk a lot of money into it with Carl trying to get some issues addressed.

This is NOT a car that has been babied by La Jolla all it's life or anything. The dash pad was redone poorly in my opinion by a hack shop, the paint was done by Maaco, the leather redo. was done by unknown.

When the current owner brought the car to La Jolla for inspection, he was advised to try and return it to the seller for a refund if he could.

That sort of killed my interest in it immediately.

Ran, Congrats on the purchase, I assume it is this one from Montecito:

73 BMW 3.0 CSI. ORIGINAL FUEL INJECTED. ALPINA WHEELS, NARDI STEERING WHEEL, A/C, SUNROOF, STICK, NEW BLACK PAINT. IT RUNS, BUT NEEDS REASSEMBLY.
THIS IS A PROJECT! PLEASE CALL JIM

Looking forward to the details as well after it arrives safely at your location. The real question we all want to know is, did you get the red handled screw drivers too?

I saw it this weekend...along with what I bought in Santa Barbara...on Sunday

Raaandyyy!!! Congratulations. Why the rush though :). Obviously us snakes talked you into biting the fruit of the tree of knowledge good and evil. I am ready to pour into your celebration my Moet, my bile, and my advice.

Bile:
- I told you one of the three (Euro, sunroof, AC) was not original. Not a peep or credit uh?

- I have children in public school, do me a favor and pay taxes in California. Leave the tax avoidance to Bahamas corporations, Panama tankers, and ex US Presidents.

- Erratum: where it reads Randy worked for AAA it should read AA

At your service,

A.

 You are too ffffunny... especially since you've lost your spleen Steve...a real improvment no doubt...

Let me see if i can help sort the maxims from the clatter of dishes?

I think I mentioned that this is not a factory AC unit of course but knew that euro's rarely came with a sunroof let alone AC along with, in one car...

HISTORY: I put Mark III and IV units into brand new cars when in College to help pay for my Calculus summer classes and a tutor to get into UCSD....the worst AC conversion (if memory serves me) was putting the Mark III into a rear engine Fiat X19 and not realizing the challenge before hand...

Recall the stuffed engine bay? Also that replacing either belt meant first dropping the engine out of the car...literally!

I pay taxes just not in a conventional way...so don't worry...so does Bill G. by the way on an entirely different scale..

the AA bit went over my head... please explain? (Airline?)

Did I work for you or more the truth did I just tolerate your eccentricities to help extract your brilliant approach to making a deal that I was, frankly too humble to even ask for...For instance do you recall the Zerox visit and their insistance that their 'mouse' would never fly and the $100.00 we paid secretly for the rights to see what we could do with it?

That was all you Steve!

I'm sure some things I remember as having originated at Apple were independently developed elsewhere. But the Mac brought them to the world.

Show us some pictures Randy, we are sure it was worth the wait.
Just remove the AC and enjoy the wind in your face. Do you need any help, I am good at removing stuff, like the AC. Or make your electric windows work like in 1971.

Woz, remember when you were caught doing 104 mph on your Prius? And after 2 Margaritas, 3 Caipirinhas and a Slivowitz you blamed the Toyota electronic accelerator? This type of denial is what people at AA deal with all the time. A is for anonymous.

Half of Asia is cranking copycat and counterfeit gadgets and you accuse Apple of stealing ideas? Oh, please, my son's school is cutting its music program, could you send a copy of your 2009 tax return so I can tell them help is on the way?

I concur about Asia now half the Apple laptops are assembled there.
Prefer this picuture of me in happier times w/Alice, don't you?

Age catches up with the best of us, huh?

Just remove the AC and enjoy the wind in your face.
No problem there as the windscreen needs to go in!

Cheers!

PS
AA Now I get it!
