Anyone with specific thoughts here...Possibly buying for the drivetrain..83 733i w/5speed, don't know about diff...doesn't run but will with carb spray...I've read what I could, and discussed w/ some folks...driveshaft, trans support, or pedal box of use? Probably less than $500, and maybe can get a rust-belter to take the rolling not-rusty shell for the cost of drivetrain removal......OR...should I hold out for a 80's 535i?
Thanks for any thoughts..
Not a real wrench,

i've said it before - i like the 3.3L engine more than the 3.5L b34 ... a lot more. anybody that ever drove an ('83 - '84) 533i vs the 85+ 535i knows what i'm talking about.

the 3.3 from a us 533i a 733i or a 633csi is an m30b32 (3210cc) ... so there's nothing different about the fit. if i remember correctly, it has a bore of 89 and a stroke of 86. put out about 194 hp and 210 ft lbs of torque. its a pretty free-revving engine.

Yep, this or the M90... revs are where it's at.

I have an 83 633csi that I will be doing a swap with. Honestly if you found one for cheap its easy to sell the parts and recoup the money if you find something else. I would say do it.

I thought the M30b32 which was made through 1984 only makes 177hp whether in an e23, e24 or e28. The b34 is 182hp and b35 208hp, is this correct?

Chris, it makes complete sense that the b34 would be more than the b32 ... but i thought the compression was higher on the b32. maybe the compression changed later in its production life ??

i pulled out my blue book for the e28 ... and it doesn't have the spec sheets like we have on the e9. i do know that my 533i was a whole lot quicker than my e12 528i.
