9 blade fan conversion

Ok.... Let's figure this out.
How exactly do you know your motor sits further forward?
Tell us your points of measurement, and no laughing at the silly yanks for what we call the "hood"!

No laughing at you, the laughs are on me! I have measured many points Don from the pulley, water pump, plenum etc to the firewall and forward to the crash panel. I have another cs alongside to compare each one and overall this engine is 1/4 or so inch more forward. I plan to unbolt the three mountings and then jack up the engine - I will probably use a strap on the gearbox cross member to try and coax it back a little - sound like a good plan?

Hi Rohan,

You should check your engine silent blocs.
Your problem typically arises when the engine brackets are mounted the wrong way on the silent blocks.
I bet yours had the thread going through the front hole.
It should be the contrary: thread in the back hole and plug in the front.

Regards,
Marc

Ah Marc, Good to hear from you, hope you and your family are well!

Yeah I will check that this evening - I didnt think the thread would fit through the mounting hole!

Hopefully this will fix the issue.

What I wrote above is of course wrong !
just invert everything.

On the diagram it is correct (the front of the car points to the left of the picture).

Anyhow the correct position is the one which sits the engine more rearward in the engine bay.
