A client asked yesterday why we always start with a valve adjustment when a car comes in

Ok everything is fine.
About 3 years ago I changed the oilpipes at an 1973 M30 (oil Filler cab on front side) and an 1987 M30 (oil filler cab at back side)
Actually I slided the old pipe out and the new in. I was 95% sure that it is impossible to mount the pipes the wrong way.
But I checked the 1973 engine first: the arrow was pointing to cylinder one (to the double chain). Everything OK. But there is also an additional V at the rear end of the pipe.

I could see the additional V through the oil filler cab of the 1987 M30. So I didn’t have to open the engine

Hope this helps

A sad story….. on some oil bars the big arrow points the wrong direction.

It’s a horrible world sometimes.

Don’t count on the big arrow, and you can always check with a small Pick to make sure that the oil hole is directly between the two cam lobes
