Ok Gruppe: (or the lucky individual(s) seriously in the market for a top shelf 'L')

There are two very fine CSLs on the market in the SF Bay area, and both are conveniently located at dealerships.

One is in the SF BMW showroom ('72, early carb'd true lightweight), the other (a '73 unusually flared BAT) is a lovely drive down the Peninsula to the Canepa Showroom (i think).

Your mission: (should you choose to accept it) is to go visit both, test drive them both (car dealers do allow test drives right? I know I'd ask for/demand one if I was dropping 6 figures) and report back here with your thoughts (and pics/video) on the the two versions. And why you decided on one or the other, or why you bought both?!

There is a $200k ask difference between the two, but which is 'the one'.....

If you're serious, send me a PM, maybe I'll chauffeur you that day between the appointments in mine (Miss July). Maybe I'll even let you drive it....maybe. (lmao)

This would be a fine day out.

Ok everyone, back to work now..... ;-)

I've seen both in person. The black one in SF is a little rough around the edges. Paint needs correction, dash splits, trunk looks like it's had work done, etc.

The silver one is magnificent, except for the funky flares. I'd buy the Silver one from Canepa (though this is a cost no object assumption, as he doesn't price cars to sell), fix the flares, and enjoy it for years to come.

So, if I pretend I have the wherewithal to acquire one of those fine automobiles, and fly to San Francisco, Shanon will hook me up with Miss July. I always wanted to hang out with a calendar girl.

Woohoo!

Correct me if I am wrong, I don't track VIN numbers in my head . .

The black car was sold at Amelia last year, and was the car of the late Bill Young?

Well were in Vegas with our soccer team a week ago and were approached by Miss July and Miss August at the bar for more than a test drive. The barman said it would cost us but never 200k$.

Here is my plan, I will drive Verona to San Francisco and tell the dealers that I will let them drive mine if they let me drive theirs.

If word got out you were with Miss July & August, it would cost you at LEAST $200k!

I've seen both in person. (snip)
The silver one is magnificent, except for the funky flares.

Those funky flares are allegedly factory-done for bigger than normal tires/wheels. Makes this CSL rarer and more special, than a run of the mill BAT, IMHO. Perfect for use with 8" wide rear rims.
