Some of our southern California owners have met and knew Ed Ricci, alias Fstede1. Ed passed away on January 10 from acute leukemia and complications from pneumonia. Ed purchased a 1970 2800CS about three years ago from Colorado, it is Polaris with a tan interior, a real beauty. Ed was also a Porsche guy as I recently found out with a 356 and several early and late 911s. Ed was such a low key and unassuming guy that you would never have known about his other vehicles. I met him several years ago at Cars & Coffee and he also attended the SoCalVintage events.
Ed was diagnosed 5 1/2 years ago and given 30 days to live. Fortunately his sister was a perfect match for a bone marrow transplant and was the longest surviving patient the UCLA Med Center has ever had with this disease and he made it to 70 years old. His son Steve reached out to me yesterday as he found my name and number on Ed's phone along with a reference to BMW. I believe Ed's wife lives in Orange and he also has a daughter. At some point the family will be selling his coupe which has a b35 motor and we will let the Forum know when that happens. RIP Ed.
