Thanks to a tip I received at The Vintage from another CS owner, I bought some Mother's Back to Black Trim & Plastic Restorer. I am not a fan of silicone so checked it out on line as to what it was made out of: Morpholine a type of ether. Will mix with water it says a slight solvent.
OK so a show was coming up. I usually wait until I get on the grass to apply the tire dressing unless it is hot or had to drive the car far to get there (no truck and trailer in our household) and that really doesn't work as the tires are too hot, it doesn't lay down well at all. I put this product on the old rubber bumpers first in the shade at home, so much less streaking that what I had experience in the past. I applied a bit more the next day. When I covered the car it didn't seem to come off much if any with the rubbing of the cover outside at the hotel. There are things we all hate to do to the car because the effort doesn't outweigh the results. I put this on one of the tires for a trial at home (I am also not a fan of real glossy tires) just tires that look clean/black with a very low sheen. Also some of the other dressings sling off onto the body of the car &^%$#. Has this happened to you?
So far, I love this stuff. I had tried Griot's, all their products (rubber prep etc.) as was recommended by them per a phone call I placed with their detailer. My tires turned white.....?
Thought I'd share this good fortune with all of you. Maybe you have already put this in your detail cart, I am behind the times.
