Hi everyone, I have reached the final stages of my 72 csi’s wiring.
In the pictures below there two groups of wires, one for the radio and the other presumably for the ac.

For the radio, the brown wire is ground and the purple is power, what about the white and the white/green?

Is this harness with this connector for the ac, I have not seen this connector on a coupe with ac before?

I've been dealing with the wiring in my car too, including the radio wires. Mine looks like what you've pictured. According to the wiring diagram in the blue book, the two white wires are for the optional rear speaker. The strange thing about this is that I can't find any reference to the connectors for the front speaker. Seems odd, but there you go. I haven't tried real hard to trace the white & white/green wires yet, but they don't seem to be painfully obvious in the back of my car. Could be there though...

I'm probably going to mess around with it some more tomorrow. I let you know if I find the other ends of them. In the meantime somebody will probably jumped on with a more complete answer than mine.

Ok sounds good, thanks for the info

The radio for the car is a blaupunkt frankfurt stereo, so power, ground and aerial are obvious connections. I intend to use an external amplifier which typically use rca connections whereas the blaupunkt uses speaker connections, any thoughts/solutions

Here's an ancient thread that talks about the 7 pin adapter that you'll need to hook up an external amp. My Becker also has a 7 pin connecter on the back and I found a bluetooth adapter that plugs into it on ebay. I'd just search "Blaupunkt Frankfurt external amp adapter" on eBay and see what comes up.

Also :
1) Any preferences in terms of Din Bluetooth adapter vs a Bluetooth amp

2) since this is a stereo setup, what should I put behind the original speaker grill? I had heard that 2 3.5in speakers have been made to fit. What about this it is 4 dual voice ‘stereo’ speaker

The BT DIN adapters work well and then use speaker outputs to an amp. Since I never use the radio I will buy a BT amp and run to rear shelf speakers on Chamonix.

The DIN connector is for input like a cassette or bluetooth, never output. You can get line out connectors to RCA plugs.
Ah, I was conflating two things. I knew the DIN connector on my Becker was input, but I misunderstood the old thread I referenced where I thought it said there was a DIN output on Blaupunkts.

Alright, any thoughts on speakers that will fit in the stock location upfront, I have read in previous breads that people have stuffed two 3.5 in speakers in that spot, any other ideas?

On a previous thread somebody pointed out that you probably won't have much stereo effect (if any) with two speakers mounted in the dash cutout. You would at least be getting all of the information from both the right and left channels that way though.

The PO of my previous e9 had removed the footwell kick panels and had custom ones made to mount right and left front speakers. I don't remember the exact size of the speakers, probably 5.25." They were two-piece - separate tweeters and mid/woofer drivers. While probably not the ideal location for speakers, they worked fine with the added benefit of not cutting any metal or door panels. Super easy to pull the new kick panels and put the originals back if you want to go back to original.

The replacement panels were really just simple copies of the originals with holes cut in them for the speakers and covered with (nearly) matching vinyl. I wish the PO of my current e9 had done that. Instead I've got holes in my door cards and in the hat rack (both the parcel shelf cover and the metal). I think both of these are fairly common occurrences, but it's still a shame.

I already have two speakers in the parcel shelf, my thinking was that I could get both left and right (like you said information from both the right and left channels) without cutting my already finished side panels or door panels

That certainly makes sense then! That speaker you linked to with the two drivers seems like an interesting solution as long as it fits.

Shifting to the other aspect of the thread, Ac wiring…

-the wiring in my coupe is mostly not original

1) this connector separates the harness that runs into the eng bay

2)
The portion in the console connects to this three speed fan switch (five terminals)

3)
From the switch, a yellow and green wire run to where?? And the above orangey brown wire runs from the connector to some unknown point??

4)
The temp switch has two spots for wires
And the blower has one unused one as well, I’d assume they connect to those unused wire/

The other end of the harness runs into the engine bay

2)
Green splits of before it reaches the above picture, it is the only wire long enough to reach the ac compressor so I think it is pretty obvious that is what it is for…

3) these two wire don’t have anything to do with the ac correct? They come from the heater blower area

According to previously posted ac wiring diagrams, there should be a relay/diode, and other things that are obviously not part of my harness, any thoughts guys?

Also if you look back in the pictures of the console wiring you will see a red wire with an inline fuse, that used to be connected to the purple radio power wire. Obviously I have removed that connection as I need the purple wire for my blaupunkt.

#3 most likely washer pump. Fan blower power goes to your temp switch the other terminal wire goes to relay under coil for condenser fan and compressor both wires black i think.
