AC Wiring Diagram Needed

No way to tell but it turns on immediately and then runs less as the temp knob is turned down. Another way of saying this: the refrigerant is not cold when first turned on, it needs to cool first and then cycle on and off.

Hi Forum,

My AC system challenges are not totally gone.

My condenser fan does not turn on immediately when I turn on the interior AC temp switch on the console. When I trace back the large red + wire across the front of the car that powers the condensers fan through the relay below the coil, there's only about 3 volts. Same reading across the front of the car to the left side of the radiator. Any thoughts on why low voltage?

It should have a constant 12v when the ignition switch is turned on, based on wiring diagrams members have posted.

The interior AC fan operates normally (cuts out the heater fan when turned on and has variable speeds) and when turned on it energizes the magnetic switch on the AC pump, through the relay below the condenser, and the AC pump engages/spins.

Cheers,
Bill

I would run a new 12g red wire from the battery through the inline 20A fuse to the relay and check/replace wire from relay to fan. Or even test with a spare relay since your A/C compressor is getting power from the temp switch.

Hi there

With appreciated help and guidance from HBChris and Ohmess, I found that a aftermarket inline fuse along the 12v lead between the battery and the relay (located below the coil) was causing enough resistance to keep the relay and condenser fan from functioning. I removed the inline fuse, reattached the relay and grounds to the inner fender and voila....the condenser fan (along with the rest of AC system) operates as it should. Ya! Next...time to get it vacuum tested and recharged.

Kindest regards,

Bill

I wasn't able to find a schematic for the turning on the condenser fan without the AC on and took liberty to draw this one. It includes the recommended switch and diode.
If it is incorrect please advise and I will change it as I have not tried it yet.
