My ‘71 2800cs appears to have the original seal for the air cleaner cover that is cracked and brittle and missing in places. It would be a large oval seal just guessing about 50+” in diameter. I am hoping that it’s still available, but I doubt it. The profile of the rubber is half round as it ticks into the cover itself, and more flat on the outside. Any tips on replacement ?

50" long maybe, not diameter.

Before someone tells us all that it's available at "so-and-so", you could remove the old gasket and fill the groove in the lid with something that will remain pliable; you could lengthwise split some small diameter rubber tubing, you could use a large-ish oring; you could use a felt product; and other such brainfarts.

Well, if this really is a 2D rubber seal, they can be drawn easily and inexpensively. They can absolutely be cut with water jet, and likely work
a laser cutter.

Skip to the end on both of those:

What did you end up doing at an alternative to the OEM gasket? I need to replace mine and I can't find the actual part from a retailer.

You can find it here.

I bought one and as I recall it was a half-round epdm. You can probably measure your filter lid and find something that will work from Steele Rubber.
