As suggested in earlier posts, I cleaned the on/off switch and although the rheostat does not work, the A/C now has slow fan (at end of twist before click) and high fan as before.
I found the resistor beneath the right headlight cover, took it apart and re-soldered the connection, as it had deteriorated.
The A/C worked for about twnety five minutes then the fuse blew again.
The auxiliary fan did not come on and I guess this is the problem.
Any suggestions for my next steps?
