Did you mean '88? The last year of the 528e. Take a look at the early pages of the club racer build if you want an e28 rear subframe. Otherwise I'd say no.
I think only a "side loader" from the very earliest years of that model will directly transfer. I just finished installing a 3.07 side loader I bought from Al Taylor.
It can be made to fit but would entail a complete removal of your rear subframe and replacement with the later. This is primarily because the diff carrier is different. Additional difference I have observed is tha the rear anti-rollbar mounting points are on the chassis and not the subframe like the earlier cars. Another item to note is that the mounting for the later subframe looks to be a quarter inch narrower than the original but it was a bit hard to measure exactly point to point because of all the obstructions. It was my intent to move to the later and for this reason had both an early and later E24 to compare (ie E12 vs E28 running gear). If you are up for custom welding it can all be done, but otherwise the answer is no, the E28 assembly cannot be directly bolted on.
