Have you got the weight of the aluminium unit vs the standard rad?

Thanks,

Rohan

Hi Rohan,

I don't have exact figures I'm afraid but I have just put in one of these after my original one failed and it is noticeably lighter.
Very pleased with it overall and my engine temps are rock steady. I have it in combination with a 14" kenlowe that has only come on once (on the one hot day we had) while idling on my drive after a good run out.

Cheers

Haha - the hot DAY we had is right! Thanks for the info - i am a bit fed up with my car now that it seems the head is cracked - the more love and attention you lavish on them the less they reward you - a bit like chasing women i guess.

If my rad was bust id go for one of these but not feeling generous at the minute!

I know exactly what you mean. I have just got my hands on a csl head by the way - I haven't seen it yet to gauge condition but you are welcome to it unless you want to go for an upgraded 80's one....

i managed to buy a pretty much new one a decade or so ago but it has the same water jackets as the original so i think im going to go for a later 80's one and hopefully be done with it now. Annoying to have to strip a <10k head and rebuild one but such is life!

Thanks for the offer - much appreciated.

Boy I know what you mean. The prettier they are, the more high maintenance!

I got one of these aluminum radiators on the first batch and it is much more lighter. The stock is a pig, I just removed mine last week and in the process of putting the new aluminum unit with all new hoses and water pump. I'm stuck at the water pump when one of the rusted old bolts snapped off when I was removing it.

Hopefully I can get mine done soon, cause it's getting hot lately and soon will be in triple digits fast. My 3.0csi motor has been overheating all of a sudden after I swapped out the distributor with another unit and even when I swapped it back to the original one its still overheats. I'm hoping its the cooling system taking a dive and it has not messed up the head.

Hey Polariscsl, will a csl head fit onto a 3.0csi?

Thanks,
David

Thanks guys. On my 71 Bav the electric fan only comes on once in a while and I live in the desert where temps go up to 115+ in the summer. I use an 80 degree thermostat.

The weight of the radiator is about 12 lbs. The complete shipping package is 15 lbs. PM me for shipping cost overseas. It is actually pretty reasonable using USPS Priority Mail.

I won't be running a 3rd production run because the minimum quantity to run is 25 units with higher price at $449. Once these are gone the only way I will make another production run is if someone organize a group buy for 25 units.

Thanks.

ALu radiator

Hi Draleu, i was wondering what would it cost to ship the radiator to Germany (near Frankfurt).
thanks. keshav

Shipping to Frankfurt, Germany is $87 via USPS Priority Mail International Insured. USPS.com says it takes 6 - 10 business days but in reality it takes about 10- 14 business days with custom clearance.

If you need it faster Express Mail International Insured is $125. That will get there in 6 - 10 business days with custom clearance.

Please PM me for ordering details.

Thanks.
