A quick question to the masses before I begin an exhaustive forum and realoem search...
I'm hoping another member has been down this road before, and has a short term memory that wasn't injured in the '80s...

Last year I purchased every seal/gasket/goo I could find from our various retailers to seal up my tired Getrag 262.
Thanks to member Gary Knox, with a CL tip about a 265 in Pittsburgh, I'm now a proud 5 speed owner.
My curiosity is what, if any of these sealing bits will work on the 265. Particularly the shift shaft seal, and front/rear shaft & case seals, speedo drive etc...

Thanks in advance.... Tom

The easiest way to do this is go into RealOEM and copy the part number of each item. Then on a new page without a model selected, paste in the part number and hit Search. 23111228314, the front seal, shows it fits many models including the e12 through 1981 so that one is good. It also shows the dimensions for this seal. Good luck.

Wow thanks Chris!
I never realized you could search without a selected model... That'll really save me time.

It's been said before, by many members, but this forum-and all of its members is the best out there. Virtually any E9 issue is addressed and well documented...

8 677 736 is the same for 4 and 5 speed 15x21x5 shift seal
1 209 311 is not the same size 35x52x7 front seal as 1 228 314 30x42x7 front seal
1 205 342 is the same for 4 and 5 speeds 40x55x8 rear seal

I usually fitted two shifter shaft seals as they are the main cause of rear end oil leaks and the housing must wear a bit over time, the OEM seals are double lipped, aftermarket may not be,
