Alpina 7x14

what years of manufacture CSLs are these correct for? I own a city pack CSL (being late 72 I think) missing its original 14" Alpinas.

Would the "only five holes" wheel be correct for my car, or is it for the cars earlier than mine?

These are definitely right for your csl, Drew.
ALL the Csl’s had these type, without the extra 5 holes, all the way thru to the last series. These rims were built in 3 different batches. These are the 344 series, the 2nd off the three batches.

Having said that, I don’t think that the refurb is of the best quality, but the rims are correct. You might want to check via the seller what date stamp these rims have, more so to check if all 4 have the same date. Not that it particularly matters, would be nice if they were so.

The date stamp is on the back side. Almost invisible in the pics.

I think that someone sand blasted the wheels. Much of the detail on the text has literally been erased, and the media took some of the aluimum where the brake dust would have pitted the aluminum. You can see the pitting in the pics. The ad sais that they were painted but they almost look powerder coated to me. Powder coating is pretty thick and can also contribute to loss of detail on the text.

Yes, as Marcos said, sandblasting the rims isint the ideal way of removing the old paint and powdercoating will take away the fine prints. The shop I found for my rims, chemically remove the old paint, dirt etc. ‘Soft paint removal’ is what they call it!

thanks Keshav

I would recommend you make an offer of around 13-1400€. They shouldn’t be worth much more.
The set I bought some weeks ago, were 700€, add about 5-600€ for a perfect refurb..........

yes I saw those wheels, they were quite cheap, I wouldn't hope to find a set to match that price!

All depends on how much of a hurry you are in. The set you are talking about was bought by another forum member, mine was another set from Holland. So yes, they do pop up occasionally.
Ask the seller to check the date stamp, whether they are all the same and hopefully for a lower price.
In a Perfect scenario, the date stamp should be prior to your cars production date.

no hurry at all, and I am price sensitive. Moreover I am after originality not over-restoration, so these wheels may not be for me on a number of counts

really looking for a tatty but straight set, and a price to match, but then again, isn't everyone!!?

cheers for all the good info
:)

And those will show up to, for sure! I got that tatty set too, like the thought of them going from beast to beauty look under my supervision.

I am looking for a set of 14 x 7 Alpinas for a friend in Bucaramanga, Colombia who recently bought a 75 CSi. Would prefer to find something in the states, to keep shipping costs down. They don't have to be perfect, or early "5 hole" CSL type wheels, but that would be the preference.

Please pm me or email me direct at [email protected] if you know of anything that might work.

He is also looking for E28 window motors front and rear, although I have sent a message to Harry who may be able to help with those.

Thank you.

Are these motors to upgrade the E9 window motors? If so, only rear motors from an E28 work. You need two left rear and two right rear motors.
There are a number of threads on this processes here.
This is a good one to start with.

Hi Ian,

Yes, they are for my friend's CSi in Colombia. I persuaded him to buy the car, so the least I can do is help him find the parts he needs :D

I did know he needs rear motors, and Koopman has kind offered to send me a set.

Many thanks Ian!
