Alpina genuine or copies?

Hi again all,
I emailed the Q to Alpina about cast or stamped ALPINA text on the FPS turbine wheels and of course if the stamped ones are fake, I also included the picture from my add that Marcos also added to this tread.
Here is the answer;
Dear Mr. Tornlycke,

Many thanks for your mail and the picture.

Yes, this is the 14" ALPINA wheel (36 11 601). This was suitable for many models:
2500
2800
2800 CS
2,5 CS
2,8 L
3,0 S / Si
3,0 CS / CSi / CSL
3,0 L
3,3 L / Li
E12
E23
E24
E28

Hope this will help.

Best regards,

Christopher M. Kratzer

You have the magic touch. When I asked the same question all I got was sorry cant help!

Intresting, the early 14" CSl Alpina (pre Ronal) rims without the extra five small holes had Alpina cast not engraved on the hub.
Yes, my set are the same...no alignment holes, "ALPINA" cast-in. There are also casting dates which can reveal much, the casting date is in the back side of the wheel...ever wonder why no one selling wheels with alignment holes or Alpina stamping ever shows these?

If you think this through that is how Alpina can give an answer that says "the wheel" fits such a wide range of models (and production dates.) They are NOT thinking of these as specific to a year (or month) the way "we enthusiasts" sometimes want to.

Just a thought...it is probably easier for US to determine a timeline for the variations than it is reasonable to expect that Alpina "knows".... 45 years ago no one was thinking of all these goofy little details the way "we enthusiasts" like to today... and one last thought....the casting dates can make that timeline definitive

for the record, my "no alignment holes" Alpinas have a cast Alpina logo and are all dated 4/73.

You know car show judges are getting tough when they start checking the casting dates on the back. :D
