Alpina Steering Wheel - Genuine or Fake?

May it be original? Looks like ALPINA logo is in the wrong place.

Yeah it is fake. Here is why.

  • Alpina never put the logo immediately under hub mount (as you mentioned)
  • This is a new prototipo. Alpina didn’t make prototipo based wheels past around 1975
  • The wheel says momo on the front. With exception to some (not all) A38 based alpina wheels, we never saw momo and alpina on the wheel face. Momo stamp was on the back.

Last thing on my prototipo through 1975. The 1976 lineup had a momo A38-based four spoke wheel. This wheel was used through the 80’s, and is still made today. There are numerous versions of this wheel with respect to the Alpina logo, momo stamp, horn surround, wood, leather, etc.

This wheel is still available new today. It is the only Alpina wheel still made that doesn’t have an airbag.

I also have this version

Let's all send the guy a few questions to waste his time. Have him look up shipping costs, always a nuisance.
Then conclude "never mind, it's fake".

I'm up!

You can. Us folks in ‘murica are stuck behind a multi factor authentication prompt that won’t text the US. Kleinanzeigen is out of reach without technical wizardry or friends in europe. Most EU countries require a physical address to secure a phone number. I tried… :(
