Alpina style lugs

Can't believe Arde hasn't piped in on this subject. He must not be interested in the right nuts?

Nuts to you guys!

Enjoyed the discussion about the lug nuts, and understand the few gripes as to price. Difficult and expensive to make and guarantee a product like this, for a limited and select application. That's what we do when we find ourselves needing such detail 'jewelry' for our restorations. Those little things make a big difference.

Spoke with my son Erik and if anybody on the board wants a set of our lugs, we'll offer them shipped for $100 PayPal in the USA. Email us directly if you wish.

I think the price is fair. A Dorman set is close to $60, and nothing comes close in terms of overall look and feel. I see nothing wrong with a $100 set of wheel nuts complimenting $2,000 to $3,500 set of wheels.

Has anyone called Mesa Performance to check on availability and pricing ?
IMHO, the Mesa ones are simple and complement the Alpina style center hub nicely, but the Coupeking lugs give a more aggressive look. Just depends what you want.

i have a set that is similar to the ones Chris has, although they are nickel plated (as i remember) ... and they get surface rust on them if any water remains on them after washing the car. that's the only time they have had water on them. it seems like i bought those from Coupeking ... but they were much less expensive ... and guess what, i'm replacing them.

Wow, wild speculation beyond red Heyco screwdrivers.

This is nuts.

I like them matte, not shiny. I like them sharp angled, not round. I like them in original metallic finish, not plated. And mostly I like bolts instead of nuts.

I emailed Mesa Performance in Costa Mesa, CA. Jim S. told me that each lug is $5.97. That comes out to about $120 for a set of 20. There a dozen individual lugs in stock but more can be easily procured. I suppose you also need to pay for shipping too. I described them as chrome hexagonal with a domed top. Hope this helps.

Mine have never gotten rusty, had them five years.
understand - wasn't saying it was a problem with the style - just the ones that i bought ... and that is probably the reason that they were being closed out and sold inexpensively.

Just got my Coupe King lug nuts. Nice quality, seen with the other style at the bottom:

I had also emailed Eric S. that I was interested in purchasing the Alpina style lugs, but never got a response from him. Have all our members that requested a lug set of 20 received a reply ?

You have a few options. My 'virtual' restoration capabilities far exceed my physical. ;)

I bought these - I'm waiting for the seller to confirm that they will ship to the US. The ad says worldwide. This is $10 + Shipping instead of $120 from coupeking. They are galvanized like a grade 5 bolt, not chrome.

Well I have a bit of a dispute on my hands that will likely be difficult to resolve with $10 lug nuts and $20 in shipping. Above is what is shown in the ad. This is what I got:

Ask him nicely to ship correct ones or refund you or he gets neg feedback

what is it they say... "if it sounds to good to be true"

The quality of the Coupe King lugs is excellent and the pricing is more than fair when all things are considered.

Plus, if we don't support people that are willing to invest their resources to make obscure parts available, well, you know the rest.
