I read the above four times and I concluded it is a well disguised metaphor about divorce and trophy wives.

Yes Sporster I understand that, I just tried to explain what a nice feeling it is to answer the local guys at the parking lot outside the mall on a Sunday afternoon on the question hey deQuincey, are those nice Alpinas real and he says without no hesitation yes they are the real thing instead of having a lump in the guts and be frightened of just that question and either lie to his friends or just say I'm afraid not, but I got them for a really good price at Wallmart. The reply will be but they still look good for that price and they keep on moving on to your neighbours car and had already forgotten about you.:-?
And on the way home these guys says to their wife's, honey! Please remind me not to buy those copycats at Wallmart, it doesn't feel right.:grin:

@ Arde, you're right most of the car dudes in the world would sell their car if they could reinvest in something better, of course just for a reasonably higher amount but rather for less. I think that goes for the wife as well.:razz::razz:
 
Hey, this is going to far, I'm by no means expert on cars and as I said in my add the wheels are in a really good condition. I can't say ore judge if they are mint, perfect or something else. On a atomic level there will be electrons that are still quite dizzy after the first Spring drive and trying to find a new layer for its inner balance. So I come up with a new grading " damn good", this means that my wheels has been taken care of during more than 35 years and have had a clean up little to often and been kept we'll away from the curbs while parking in the city. They are nicely exercised so you can't find any stretch mark on them, nice and tight I would say. I would grade them as damn good, a pride for any petrol head to own.:lol:

Do you guys actually listen to Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers in Germany? Is it in English or German? I suppose it is English as most if not all of the humor would be "Lost in Translation". Also that reminds me of "Das Boot" released in the US in German with subtitles and it was a sensational movie. Then they rereleased it dubbed in English and it was a total emotional failure.

Has this thread gone far enough off the reservation so far?

@ Arde I think there is a lot of guys out there rather spending time with with their cars than wife's. However, I think there are a lot more who are spending time with there wife's that rather would be spending that time with a car:grin:

It's amazing how much discussion there is on the value of OKiligan's wheels. Personally, I suggest taking more of a lenient attitude. If he's a little high on the price, in your opinion, what's the harm as the market will eventually speak for itself. The arguments about price in this thread may be fun for some of you, but in the end I think they're meaningless. Apologies to those I've offended.

I note you say the value of the wheels. The value of any item is what someone will pay for it.
The original ad had no mention of price so I thought it prudent to ask. That is the asking price which is very different from the value!
I would agree that the thread has been hijacked by discussions on ex wife's etc. however I do wish the seller best of luck with the sale, because it makes my 16" mint Alpinas "worth" about $3000.00!

@ Simulfly, I hope you're "Genuine" 16" Alpinas gives you that joy it deserves, the reason I sell my 14" is that I just bought a set of 16" in a damned good condition for just 850$, sorry dude. Yes, I made damned good deal and my wife thinks they looks like a million dollar so that's what they are worth. And that's the good damned truth, I'm sure that will get me some benefits this weekend.
The 14" will hibernate in the garage, until next year, that is until someone wants to unleash them for dollars, I can assure you guys out there that the sum of your car is not 1+1=2 it will be 1+1=3 with these wheels on.
Have a real nice eastern everyone with your spouse and take her for a ride in your car, I'm sure you will have joy of the benefits that will be granted to you after a nice ride:D

I tried to sell my 14" Alpina's with decent 225/60-14 tires on this forum. I received no offers, even after I lowered my price to $600 so I traded them to coupeking for some work he did on my car.

The problem with 14" Alpina wheels is that decent 14" tires have gone the way of the dinosaur here in the US market. There is a much better selection of 14" performance tires available on the other side of the pond.

G-Man you sold those wheels almost 4 years ago. I don't think that pricing applies in 2014. A lot has changed.
