I need to replace my alternator. I'm not going for originality just want to replace with something that works. Can anyone recommend an alternator I could pick up locally at a parts store that you have had success with?

For a 72 bav.

I shamelessly stole Mike's approach for an alternator upgrade on my e9. I found a NOS that had been rebuilt by AC Delco US, and it works great. These alternators were made with 180 degree and 120 degree mounting bracket locations (from the mounting bolt). The coupe needs the 120 degree model.

I asked my sourse for an alternator from his 250o parts car and shuld have one in about a week to ten days.

Can also use one from an E12. Internally-regulated.
