I have been adding bits to my '72 Bavaria from the upscale 3.0S and Si. Chrome door sills, chrome wheel arches, all factory on the more expen$ive models. Max called them Mandatory Options. One large "bit" that did not come on my car was the panel on the inside of the trunk lid that surrounds the tool kit. I quickly gave up finding a used one in good condition and turned to Alvaro Prada and his OILS DESIGN GROUP. He creates perfect replicas of all sorts of parts for our cars, including the panel I was looking for.

But that old/new Devil, Shipping, quickly bit me on the throat. Mixed metaphor here, it should have been a Vampire.

Alvaro said it would be prohibitive to make and ship the panel. So instead he sent me the drawings and the name of his supplier for the fabric. And a photo of the fasteners. And a photo of the panel in production with a layer of foam and instructions to assemble. When I contacted the fabric supplier they did not sell retail. So Alvaro stepped in and ordered the correct amount of the correct fabric. It was shipped today. the fasteners are on their way too.

Of course before I started this I talked to my Body Guy. A Pebble Beach level body, paint and restoration guy who I call "The Wizard." He happens to love the BMWs of our period and at this point has worked on three of our "Rocket Dog" cars.

Thank you Alvaro. I could not have done it without you!
