I did not want to hijack Robs thread... for lots of reasons :-)

My A/C was running just fine the other evening when out for a nice drive, then it just stopped. Since that seems to be the way these cars go I did not worry too much and just rolled the windows down on the way home. I then checked the fuse and found #10 was blown so I replaced it and it works fine again so my question is- what is/are the likely causes of the fuse blowing? If there are any common causes I would love to prevent it from happening again-

Thanks

My guess would be high resistance in the rheostat or blower motor, not sure if they share the same fuse. The condensor fan has it's own fuse hidden up front (or should).

For the rheostat, you can remove it, clean the contacts/coil with electronic spray and some 500 grit sandpaper.

For the blower motor, see the recent post about this fun exercise.

Maybe it was a crusty old fuse?

Thanks Steve, I'll try all the easy stuff first and hope I don't have to go and revisit Andre's thread. That would be almost as bad as sweating in the fancy Recaro's I installed-

..unfortunately the fuses are all new:-(
