Hi all,
I just (about a month ago) purchased a 73 3.0CSa form Automotion. I might have paid too much, or I might have got a deal.... but I am in the game now, not sitting on the sidelines. Had it shipped to Colorado, took forever.

It is rough inside, outside, rusty, and slow. It is an east coast car with rust, but not too bad and it is a running driving project. I have dug into the floors, closed compartments, hidden areas, and frame rails and I need to replace several areas, but not too bad. Already had to fix a bunch of little stuff, mostly electrical, but I am having fun with it. The information here and the community is priceless.

I am familiar with rusty old BMWs, have rebuild several 2002s. Have a full race prepared '70 with all the works vintage will allow that started out as a rust bucket. I have also rebuilt several rusty british piles for race and street. Working up to building a 3.0CS race car at some point.

My wife and I now have two kids, 4 and 2, and the other classics I have just do not fit the family. I was able to convince my wife that this CS project was necessary.

I already purchased the motor and drive train form a '78 euro 635csi and am collecting the necessary parts to do the 5-speed conversion. Found an Electromotive ECM second hand to run the EFI and do direct spark. A/C and fresh interior and my wife will be please. I will probably spend the winter doing rust repair, panel replacement, body work, machanical fitment, bumper tuck and prep for paint.

I really like the look of Duane Sword's Alpina, airdam with front bumper. I would love to do triple sidedrafts too, but here at altitude and driving into the mountains regularly I think I want to put EFI on a street car. I will save the triple sidedrafts for the next race car project.

Thanks in advance for all of the information and help.

Hi Wayne
Congrad's on your purchase and welcome to the forum! Love to see pictures of your project over the winter. Tim

Hi Wayne, it sounds like an extensive rebuild. Hopefully you can post some photos as you go.
Have fun bonding with your Coupe. The kids will love this one.

Here is an initial pic, as delivered.
"Extensive rebuild" - I would not have it any other way.
I love rebuilding cars and would rather do it my way then pay for someone else to do it and object to the outcome.

I am not a perfectionist, but I have my standards and I will do just enough to get an A+. This will not be a show car in the since of pure CSness, but I hope it to be a sweet drive and nice to look at when finished.

Wayne
