I see more Alfa in that curving body line than I do e9. The Dodge Demon hood scoop and the overwrought aero details also have about as much to do with an e9 as a hammer does with a violin...

that's a buck-tooth grille. i was being polite, but i would like to echo @HB Chris' comment except in all caps, screaming at the top of my lungs.

Another view....not much better IMHO -- color is close to Ceylon though....

I’m pleased with it. Thanks to modeling software, enthusiasts with some talent are capable of renderings like this that rival “official” concept art. Basically, this chap did a napkin sketch so vivid that we can’t contain our visceral reactions. Cool, right?? Suppose the fellow did a second draft based on the comments? After a couple of revisions (easy to make in a digital drawing medium) he might have something that even triggers a bit of nostalgia.

What I like: the upright glass, thin roof pillars, mix of colors and textures on the exterior skin, traditional round headlights, sloping back deck with cantilever, Ceylon-esque color.

Constructive criticism: you’d be checking for live, nesting animals in the aero ducts before driving anywhere.

The large gaping buck toothed maw at the front of this thing is really hideous, the driver can barely see over the hood, stealing hood scoop ideas from Dodge does not improve a BMW, no car with Dubs will look like any car from the 1970s, the belt line comes up higher than the driver's shoulder, the C pillar is four times as thick as a proper coupe, the flared out and chopped off fender look stolen from the Oldsmobile Toronado in the 1970s looks almost as out of place as the scalloped sides and louvered ass end.

Were I teaching a design course, I would flunk whoever submitted this monstrosity.

This is what happens when you have very young computer designers working only from 2-d platforms. Most of them have little or no sense of the details and proportions that make up the historical “meat” of BMW’s design that spawned the cars that we love. I’m happy to let any one of these kids have one of my cars (e3,e9,e21,e24,e28, e36) for a week in hopes that it might help bmw produce something that isn’t vomitous.

What could possibly have been the "designer's" intention? A mashup of cartoon extremes grafted onto BMW's most elegant ever? Fugly. There, I said it.

This sort of sh*t should be foisted on us, the true believers, a little more gently. Still, as "art" it ..... I give up, words fail.

Personally there is a lot that I like in this exploration. I’m always interested in pushing the boundaries of design. Not all of it works (especially in the rear end) but it’s a lot more interesting than what the current crop of designers at BMW are coming up with.
