I'm looking for some tire recommendations for my Bavaria with 16" Alpina 7's and 8's... looking for advise on current offerings- anyone with recent shopping experience?

Thanks in advance- Richard

i did some research on tirerack ... see the attached pdf. the tire that OCCoupe recommended the Michelin Sport A/S 3+ showed quite well in the test data against the extreme + max performance tires. the tire that had the best overall data was the bridgestone re-11 as it took the most 1st places in the tests.

the michelin, which is an ultra-high performance all season tire finished with the 2nd best placing ... then the new continental extreme contact sport ... then the new firestone firehawk indy 500

bridgestone re-11

Richard, i own the bridgestone re-11 tires on my coupeking alpina staggered wheels. they stick like glue. awesome tire ... perhaps better tire than i need on a coupe. the michelin's are almost as expensive ... but the firestone is inexpensive for what the test data shows ... and the conti is reasonable, and the test data shows much better than the previous conti extreme contact dw that several people have on this forum.

at an average of $88 each, i am likely to try the firehawk indy 500 tire. it tested out best in ultra high performance summer tires ... and i really don't plan on driving a coupe in the rain if i can help it. came in 2nd in dry cornering, dry lap time, dry stopping and wet steering. it suffered a little in wet stopping. the michelin was in the running in every category - a few seconds and a lot of thirds - impressive results. i just don't like the price of the michelins ... an average of 141.50 each

These will be going on my Bavaria... it can probably handle a lot more tire than my coupes the way it's set up.. so what sizes do I need for 16" 7 and 8 staggered?

i only know coupe sizes ... the sizes listed on the spreadsheet correspond to the diameter of the 195/70 - 14" in diameter. 24.7" to 24.9" diameter.
on the coupe the front is 205/55 - 16 and the rear is 225/50 - 16

these sizes on a coupe require fender lip rolling on the fronts and negative camber plates on the fronts - to keep from cutting the tire on the fender lip. better seek response from somebody who has current experience on a bavaria

E9 and E3 are the same but I thought 205/55 - 16 and rear is 225/50 - 16 was for staggered 6 and 7's not 7 and 8's?

I just bought the Discount Tire version of the Conti for my regular car, a 2000 528i
The are called Control Contact AS
I bought them over the Michelin because they were a lot cheaper and the shop I take it to recommended them
I think through maybe tomorrow, Discount tire has a $100 rebate and Conti a $70 rebate

got it... for some reason I thought there were 6's and 7's... that's what happens when you run 14 x 7's on everything

Richard, I'm impressed you can get a 225 onto the rear of an E3. Did you cut the inner fender lip?

It actually has 245's on it now... I'll post a pic. This is a Dinan build- it also has corrected geometry.

I have the Michelin AS3 Pilot Sport on my modified Forester . This is the tire that replaces summer tires on my cars from here on. . 100% satisfied with the grip and feel. I'd have to say I am more satisfied with this this tire than any I have bought to date. I have Conti Extreme summer tires on my E46 wagon. Don't really like the on center feel or turn in response.
