would like to hear the thoughts of the antenna. from looking at photos, i've noticed that the CS seems to have the antenna on the front passenger side and CSI have them on the rear driver side rear. I've seem photos without the antenna as well along with them being on the rear passenger side. but these are just observations and i see photos of cars that are exceptions.

I personally like the antenna in the rear, no preference on the side. I'm having body work done so maybe antenna relocation will be done. I see a lot of Hirschmann Einbausatz rear antennas.

Personally, I prefer the antenna in the back passenger area where I believe it supposed to be for my model year. My antenna does not go up and down so I just leave it up. I think it looks more period

Correct that way

Well, if you already have a hotrod of sorts you could go with the clean look and eliminate another hole in the body. How much do you listen to the radio? More builds I see are going without any head unit at all and going with a Bluetooth capable amp and streaming directly from the phone. Having said all that, I love the Blaupunkt Frankfurts with the pinstripe faces with the original low watt bulbs.

I agree, but love having a working Blaupunkt even if I don’t use it!

They are all dealer installed so all over the map, driver or passenger fender or either A pillar, all manual. Best place for electric is driver side rear fender accessible from the trunk.
whaaa, thats crazy that they were all installed.

I was thinking about deleting and replacing with a more discrete antenna mounted somewhere else. but i really like the look of the electric antenna. I have a Blaupunkt from my 2002 resto that I decided not to put in. I was thinking about having it modified to be bluetooth as well.

antenna in the back passenger area

The reason HBC mentions rear driver side might be so it’s not by the gas filler rubber boot and fuel vapor return system. More space on the driver side. Mine is on the driver side and far back along the quarter panel. It looks good back there and is generally not in the way. But when I paint my coupe I may move it 2ft forward, close to the front corner of the trunk lid. This puts it out of harms way when accessing the trunk.

Driver side rear electric antenna, has not worked durning my ownership. Have an original Blaupunkt sourced from a forum member. Hooked up a bluetooth module in & use it all the time.

Exactly. You can see the bracket I made to hold the bottom in position. (plumbers tape!)

The mother of all antenna threads is: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/my-nos-hirschmann-antenna.17226/
and DQ's angled antenna install is nice.

My plan is working radio with no visible antenna. Originally I was going to use the defroster wire but now I’m going to run perspex rear windscreen and quarter windows. I figure there will be a hidden option I can pursue. Either way I’m not planning on listening to it, and I intend to use a euro radio (which works but the frequency is offset).

No external holes here..... Bought a manual Hirschman and carefully snaked it behind the dashboard. I can get all the stations I need through FM, but can see where it might reduce signal a bit...
Have fun!
