Anyone ever make an app for business?

I'm looking into it for the company I work for and thought I'd throw the question out to you guys. Know of a good place to start? It will require help from our website server-side guy but I want to learn the basics first...

Are you referring to a mobile app, web app, client app? Do you want to host internally in a cloud (AWS, etc.). Are you trying to deerming technology, dev test resources, timeline?
