Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ed

not meaning to pry...

Not a lot of us in western NC...Me in Morganton, Amy in Nebo, Charlie in HKY....are you up the hill or elsewhere? Come say howdy...I'd say come have coffee, but I don't coffee...but love to meet you, and exchange some lies.

Sorry, don't know the CO car...

I'm in Rutherfordton. My history has been with BigCoupe.com (E24) and Bimmerforums.com (E31). Now looking to experience the E9 madness :)
Really want to end up with an E9 much like Doug Dolan's.
I have roots in Statesville and turn right at Morganton heading east on I-40 from time to time. Would enjoy meeting you ..... so will give you a PM shout next trip.

PS .... Something doesn't feel right about this car, that is why I'm asking questions.

not too many inka coupes have been put up for sale ... they usually raise attention. the VIN comes up as a CSi, but is NOT in the registry. i would want to see it in person before i put a deposit on it.

Yep, seems like the same coupe only with the CSL style stripes removed. The most telling is the location of the side mirrors, they are both mounted in the same odd non-factory location. The big mystery is why the VIN change???

Thanks for your input. Yes, I also noted the VIN is for a CSi and the badging on the car says CS ..... also the VIN tag also looks brand new. No engine shots to potentially clear things up. Wary is me :)

Is this car in USA or Canada?
I sent an email about an orange coupe in March and got this reply yesterday!
Thanks for your email. My BMW 1972 coupe is like new condition, no scratches, no dents. As you probably noticed, the price is $9.500 . I'm selling the car at this price because i can't enjoy it due to my job , i work at sea as i am a marine biologist I work on the St-Lawrence river in Quebec, my office: Pilotes du Bas-St-Laurent
Please let me know if you are still interested in order to forward you more info and pictures.

Thank you

Yes, this is the same guy ...... thanks for helping me sort out this mystery :)

maybe the way to purchase this car is in the manner of the nigerian scam. my lawyer will send you a check to pay for the car and have it shipped to me. you will refund the difference to my lawyer.

So what about the real car. This thing is floating around, and it looks like the csl stripes were recently added or removed. The VIN plate has inks showing, buy is obviously a repro plate (which is okay imo).

the ad is a scam. i just looked closely at the photos, they are photoshopped. for example, the last "2" in the VIN is a duplication of the previous digit.

My guess is they are the same car. Either a typo in recording the previous coupe number, or an error when the 'new' plate was stamped, misreading some vague stamping from the old plate. The pictures from the eBay listing show a 'new' plate installed under the hood on the right side in the proper location.

You are right! That looks more like MS Paint work than PhotoShop. The csl stripe removal looks legit though..the car exists somewhere. It would be nice to know where the real car is.

Let's hope some innocent or less than innocent buyer does not show up at the real owner's door with title, plate and keys in hand. You never know in an age where a scammer can take out a mortgage on your house or file your taxes and get a refund.
