Anyone know this car ?

Impressed that forum sleuths figured out the VIN plate illusion.

Unfortunately, along with the prices soaring on these cars, so do the number of scammers. Just like I keep saying, these coupes are the next vintage 911's. You would not believe how many of those vintage 911 ads are scams, I mean it's mind blowing. And getting more and more sophisticated like this one. And even when you go see one in person, unless you really know what to look for, they are grossly misrepresented as they suffer the same rust issues. I'd say even worse. BMW's of that era in my opinion are a more solid overall car with the 911's still teetering on glorified VW's. I'm not trying to put them down because I love them but it's pretty much true. Anyhow, it's not so much the people on this board that need the education on this stuff, it's the poor fella's just getting into them thinking "what a great deal" that I worry about. Unfortunately some of them will be learning a hard life lesson.

can't quite read the VIN on the title pic ... but it doesn't look like a 2 for the 4th number and the 3rd number is definitely a 7 ... which says CS, not CSi.

This is the car I sold & as far as I know the buyer agent transported the car to FL and then to Venezuela!!!

Another example of "if it sounds to good to be true ..... it probably is" :)

i think we are all on the same page here. the scam seller is using your pictures, minus the CSi stripe and photoshopping the VIN, and also showed a registration / title that is NOT from this car.

the CSi stripe obviously has also been photoshopped out

That isn't obvious to me. I just glanced at it. Based on his/t VIN alteration skills, removing the stripe is outside of his /her skill set. If he/she used the clone tool, you'd see repeating reflections. Again I just glanced, but I didn't see any repeating pixels.

Actually, no... they stole that photo from here:
http://www.petrolicious.com/this-bmw-e9-will-make-you-rethink-your-priorities

If you click on the "original ad" link, it will show you the eBay listing from early 2014 and pics of it with no stripe. The eBay ad seems to have not cached all the other pics, so hard to say where the VIN pic and title pic came from.

Here it is at Mecum aution in Monterey in September? of last year, with stripes:
http://www.sportscardigest.com/mecum-auctions-monterey-2014-auction-report/3/

Here's the same car discussed here in 2013:
http://e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14506
Auction pics from that event still live here, but it is represented pretty well in the thread anyway:
http://auctionsamerica.com/events/f...&feature=&collection=&grouping=&category=Cars

I'm also curious where it is being peddled now (fraudulently, of course).
