I've got 6 spare carbs, of which two are distinctly different compared to the other 4 spares and the 2 ones from my car. Most noticable are:
- the position if the small brass pipes that stick out the choke section that are different, it has only two pipes instead of 3, the position is different (see green tape arrows pointing to them)
- a hole not present in the choke section (see pic with green tape on the flange)
- the tag with bmw Roundel number was still in place, but the number # 1252943 is not listed in my workshop manual.
-The small lever to the top flap is different: the one in my hand is from my car, the complete one is the unknown one, it also has an additional spring.

Can anyone identify to which BMW model and engine/transmission this carb set belonged to?
enclosed a few pics, an image of workshop manual, not listing the # 1252943 for the e9, and a picture form the US Zenith carb manual indicating the choke lever with a "set screw" with the spring as being for an "earlier model" (earlier is a relative thing, but the US carb manual is dated 1982...)

If it is salvagable, i will put it up for sale.
I just want to make sure this carb ends in the right place.

Indeed these carbs were used on MB's. Most images of MB's I've seen however have a completely different vacuum pot. Plus this set had a bmw tag on it, so it must be BMW.

I also noted this morning that the float section of the carb in this post has a passage blocked with a steel plug and an extra cast channel compared to my 73 3.0 csa carbs. I'll update showing this with a pic later.

Edit: pictures added, showing the delta in the internals of a 3.0 csa carb (type1 255 951, Violet) and the early 2800 carb. both carbs are marked 'dead' each has a crack in them: PO tried to disassemble by sticking a screwdriver between the two sections, while forgetting to remove the middle screw. The middle screw as turns out is stronger then the casting....
