ASA vs. Glas 1600gt

I've got plenty of BMW chops (have owned at least two BMWs continuously since my first 2002 in 1969; currently have 5 in the stable) and have 40+ years of loyalty to the marque. But the Glas GT vs. the ASA 1000 is no contest. Glas was a going-broke niche player working on a shoestring, while the ASA was designed and built by the best of Italy's designers and builders: Ferrari, Bizzarrini and Giugiaro. It's fast, beautiful and rare. No disrespect to the boys in Munich, but the Glas GT just can't compete at any level.

@LarryE9E10, disrespectrully disagree. In the front the scoop, the kidney, the blend of the fenders with the hood and the chrome grill are perfect.

About the profile: from the Talbort(sp) mirror to the Hofmeister Kink the 1600 has it all over the ASA.

The back end, no contest. The small, perfectly sized Roundel along with the delicate 1600 GT badge, and the exposed chrome gas cap perfectly top the two chrome roundie lights, the three piece chrome bumper and the Bosch license plate lights.

No Contest in my never humble opinion. It's an opinion, nothing more.
 
visually i prefer the 1600gt. mechanically, ergonomics or how they drive ... i have no comment as i haven't sat in, much less driven either one.

when you look at the stance of the 507, a car that was way ahead of its time ... and a gorgeous design. that being said, the stance is too high and the tires are to skinny. a function of the era, and not much changed in the 50's and 60's for most cars.

The 507 has a much nicer stance than the Glas, 190sl, Alfa Giulia spider, ISO Rivolta, 2000cs - just pulling cars from memory - they have no relationship other than having a nicer stance. It just seems that Glas was behind in that regard. Yeah maybe some of these are newer cars also - this is just an annoyance of course it would be cool to own a Glas :)

To me all the short wheelbase late 1960s 2 door GTs are all the with subtle differences.

i think they have a very similar stance - the bodies are different, but they all sit up a bit high visually and they all have skinny tires. perhaps i might be part of the minority, but i like the 1600gt. i think the interior + dash are quite nice.

Just my 2c - as I said I'd be happy to have any of these cars including the 1600gt.
 
yeah ... me too. but if you don't play, its not gonna happen. since they made the changes several years ago i quit playing for the most part. i never get 2 of a kind anymore ... much less 5 or 6. i would be happy to win 1 or 2 mill

If any of us are ever going to win enough for a GLas 1600 or whatever your choice is, it will be at the Black Jack table in a casino. That's where you get the best odds anywhere. How do I know, a retired professional gambler told me. FWIW.
 
that agrees with what a Casino consultant told me when i designed my first casino - blackjack is your only legitimate shot against the house. he said that a slot machine is 94% efficient at keeping your money ... you will get some back, but it will be 100% efficient if you keep putting what you have into it. he called roulette, legalized stealing.
